Who we are

Founder and Chairperson - Glenys van Halter

Glenys is a trained artist who has dedicated her life to helping others. In addition to founding Zizanani, she has opened eight nursery schools, three primary schools, three houses of safety and one orphanage. She assisted in the delivery of 325 babies in a caravan that had neither electricity nor running water in the early days of Diepsloot, and over 10 years she has coordinated the donation of over 14 million rand worth of food removed from grocery store shelves on its sell-by date.

Glenys confronts injustice at any level, from the personal to the national. She has performed citizenís arrests of child rapists and has campaigned for childrenís rights and changing the law pertaining to the trafficking of children. This work has made her a finalist for two major awards in South Africa: the Woman of the Year in Education in 1998, and the Gautengís Premierís Women Awards in 2002.

Sports in Action Leader - Lisa Buschek

Lisa is a dynamic individual with a passion for sustainable development and athletics. Lisa has degrees in Management and International Relations coupled with an impressive work history. She has participated in a variety of sports leagues all over the world in disciplines including swimming, soccer, marathon running and triathlons, handball, gymnastics, mountain biking and snowboarding. She has formed leagues, captained teams, planned events and coached youngsters. Lisa brings a unique combination of higher education, practical work experience and love for children and sports to the Zizanani team.

Chief Technical Officer (CTO) - Ryan Van Halter

Ryan has years of computer related experience in hardware, software, networking and program development.
