Why We're Needed

Diepsloot is an informal settlement in the North of Johannesburg, South Africa which is home to 150,000 people, many of them malnourished and poorly clothed children. Most are without proper sanitation, running water and electricity and live in impromptu shelters at the mercy of the elements. Less than 10% of the adult population has regular, full-time employment. Crime is rampant and HIV/AIDS claims thousands of lives each year. Even if HIV/AIDS treatment is miraculously available, the victims often lack proper nourishment to effectively combat the disease.
